I love this book, so I was both excited and apprehensive about watching the movie. I had quite a lot of fun with the film. It felt wittier / more comedic than the book but the tone worked really well. I have to give kudos to the casting. I thought Alec Guiness was kinda perfect in the role and that contributed a lot to the appeal of the film. He’s just so affable and yet so convincing as Wormold. I love the way the film has this sense of things getting darker and more serious and still maintains the wit and charm. Really fun but still, not as good as the book.
